Getting started

›How do I join the beta?
Ask on the Mac beta page with the address you'd use. We let people in a few at a time and email the download link when it's your turn.
›What do I need?
A Mac with macOS 26.5 or later (Apple silicon or Intel), and a Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook.com, Hotmail or Microsoft 365 account.
›How do I install it?
Open the downloaded file, drag Parcetta into Applications, and open it from there. Then choose Connect Gmail or Connect Outlook and sign in with Google or Microsoft.
›How do updates work?
Parcetta checks for a new version once a day and asks before installing it. You can also choose Parcetta → Check for Updates. Builds before 1.0 (6) can't update themselves: download the latest once from your invitation email.

Signing in

›Google says Parcetta isn't verified. Is that safe?
During the beta, yes: Google is still reviewing Parcetta, and until it's done Google shows that warning to the testers it allows. Choose Continue to go on. You'll see what Parcetta asks to do before you agree.
›Google says access is blocked, or I'm not a tester.
Until Google's review is finished, only addresses on Parcetta's list of testers can connect Gmail. We add you when we let you into the beta. If you connect a different Google address from the one you signed up with, write to support@parcetta.com and we'll add it.
›Microsoft says I need an admin's approval.
Your company's Microsoft 365 is set to allow only apps its IT admin has approved. Ask them to approve Parcetta, or use a personal Outlook.com account for the beta.
›Why does Parcetta need these permissions?
To read and organize your mail (the Screener, archiving, labels and folders), send what you write, and show and answer calendar invitations. It uses them only for what you see in the app.

Your mail

›Where is my mail kept?
In Gmail or Outlook, as always, with a copy on your Mac that Parcetta works from. It goes directly between your Mac and Google or Microsoft. Parcetta's servers never receive, store or read your mail.
›What does Parcetta change in Gmail and Outlook?
What you do in Parcetta happens there too: reading, archiving, trashing, moving and sending. The Screener adds two Gmail labels (Parcetta/Screener and Parcetta/Blocked) and a Gmail filter for each sender you block; in Outlook, waiting and blocked mail is moved out of the inbox.
›Why don't I see all my old mail?
Parcetta starts with your newest mail. Choose Load older mail at the bottom of a list to bring in more, or search: if it isn't on your Mac yet, ask Gmail or Outlook from the search results.
›Are my notes and reminders synced?
Not yet. My Notes and reminders are kept only on the Mac where you made them. Syncing them through your own iCloud is planned.

Leaving

›How do I remove an account?
In Parcetta → Settings, open the account and choose Remove Account. Its mail is deleted from your Mac; nothing is deleted from Gmail or Outlook.
›How do I take away Parcetta's access?
For Google, go to your Google Account → Security → Your connections to third-party apps and services. For Microsoft, go to account.microsoft.com → Privacy → App access, or ask your admin for a work account.
›How do I uninstall it completely?
Quit Parcetta and drag it to the Trash. To remove its data too, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.farnorlabs.Parcetta. Your mail stays in Gmail or Outlook.

Help

›Something's broken. How do I tell you?
Write to support@parcetta.com with what you did and what happened. A screenshot helps. Please don't send us your password or the contents of private mail.
›I found a security problem.
Please write to security@parcetta.com. We read every report. See Security.
›I'm not getting notifications.
Check System Settings → Notifications → Parcetta, and Parcetta → Settings → Notify me about new mail in the inbox. Mail waiting in the Screener doesn't notify you, on purpose.
